This month is a special one - the Projectworks Consulting CRM and Proposals are now available for anyone to use or try out. A big thank you again to all of our design partners and early access firms, whose extensive feedback has shaped these features. There’s also lots more planned, so you’ll see them both in upcoming product updates! More tooling also landed in expenses and resourcing this month, so keep reading to find out more 👇

A CRM Built For How Consulting Firms Actually Sell and Win Work
Many consulting firms have described to us the wrangling they’ve needed to do with traditional CRMs - they simply aren’t built for how they operate. From overly complex feature sets that rarely get used, to deal stages built for a product funnel (rather than time and expertise), there’s much to be desired.
It’s why we’ve built a CRM inside Projectworks. Set up deal stages that match how your firm already sells. Each deal keeps its owner, value, probability and close date together with its proposals, notes and working budget. Less jumping between systems and the feature-set you actually need.
If you're on Unleash, CRM and Proposals are already included, and you can switch it on under beta features in Settings (here's how). On Build or Scale? You can trial Unleash to see it for yourself. And if you're not sure which plan you're on, or you'd like a hand getting set up, just reach out to our Customer Success team.

AI-Powered Proposal Creation and Your Curated Content Library
Also available alongside the Consulting CRM (but can be used independently) is our new proposal editor. Create high quality proposals and curate your firm’s library of reusable blocks for things like your methodology, delivery timelines, testimonials and team bios. Paste your bid details into the editor and AI fills in repeatable variables so everything stays consistent.
If you're using the CRM, proposals created in the editor and other deal documents can be linked to deals.

Budget, Share, Sign and Kick-off the Project in One Place
What are the other benefits of doing your proposals within Projectworks?
When you're ready, your proposals can be shared through a secure link with an optional password and expiry date, or export it to Word or as a PDF. Clients sign directly inside the shared document. Once accepted, you can create a new project in one step, with the proposal's agreed pricing already in the budget, saving you any re-entry - it just makes sense.

More Project Context at a Glance
Notice something new in your projects? For quick context, the header of each project now has:
- Company and status: The project's company and a contractual status badge (Signed, Unsigned (committed) or Unsigned (opportunity)).
- Project details: The Project Manager, Time Entries and new Project Dates show below the project name.
The project overview chart now also includes cost lines alongside budget, burn and invoicing.

Expense enhancements keep coming!
⏮️ Recap: Last month CSV Expense Imports became available for everyone and multi-line expenses became available in your beta settings.
You can now link attachments to specific expense lines in the new multi-line expense experience. Receipts, mileage logs and any other supporting documents can now live on the exact expense line they belong to. Your project managers only see the attachments for their projects, and finance can find the backup for any line, including when a client asks for it on a rebilled cost.
⏩ Up next? AI receipt extraction is coming up.

Moving hours got even easier
One of the handiest new features on the block as part of the resourcing redesign? You can now select a range of cells by clicking and dragging or Shift+clicking. Copy, cut and paste them with Ctrl/⌘ + C, X and V, or drag a selection to move its hours.
On screen, click the tip at the end of the legend strip to see these keyboard shortcuts on screen.

New to Timesheets and Approval
Aside from a refreshed look and feel and new tech behind the scenes, the redesigned timesheets give you access to :
A progress indicator for approvers: If you approve timesheets, you can easily view if the person you are approving has entered more or less time than their capacity. This is especially valuable when approving timesheets for multiple people who work different hours in their work weeks.
Keyboard shortcuts for copying time entries: You can now use keyboard shortcuts to copy, cut and paste your time entry hours and associated comments.

Most pipeline coverage advice is written for SaaS. Here's how a consulting firm sets coverage by deal stage and plans for the clients it will lose.

A software company can pay its salesperson on deals signed, because someone else looks after the customer. Consulting firms rarely work that way. The client partner who wins the first project sells to that client for years and keeps it profitable, so if you're working out how to structure a sales incentive plan, it has to pay for both.

It's the end of September and expenses got a lot of love this month, with a couple of big changes you can start using today and more on the way! We've also made updates across financial reporting, resourcing, HubSpot, and invoicing, dive in to see what's new.
