Projectworks Product Update: July 2025

In July, we enhanced margin reporting and expanded our customer review program. Plus - since its release in June, 35% of Projectworks users have explored the new custom reporting engine. Have you tried it yet? We’d love to hear what you think.
Improvements to margin reporting
You've been asking for margin on time entries, and we heard you!
Reporting on margin at this level gives you a more granular understanding of profitability.
Now, you can add 'Margin ($)' and 'Margin %' as fields in your Time Entries reports.

Tracking margin on time entries allows you to:
- Understand which tasks and roles are lower margin, or driving overall margins down.
- Make better resourcing decisions (for example, assigning low-cost employees to lower-margin work).

Improved resourcing performance
We understand that you need to resource projects quickly and efficiently, so we've further enhanced the performance of the Resourcing by People and Resourcing by Projects screens.
This hasn't changed the core functionality of resourcing in Projectworks - although you will notice that you can now expand and collapse the Person and Project groups.

Update: Budget enhancements now launching September
We are in the final stages of refining enhancements to project budgeting and pricing in Projectworks. This release is currently targeted for September 2025, though the timeline may shift slightly as we complete final testing and quality checks.
If you are using the Projectworks platform, you will receive detailed communication via email and social channels approximately three weeks prior to launch.
In the meantime, you can learn more about the upcoming changes by watching our on-demand webinar.

Problem: “I want my team’s proposals to look polished enough to win bigger clients, but we can't decide when or if design and detailed content moves the needle or just adds noise. Every time we sit down to approach one, we get pulled between making it visually compelling, and keeping it clean and direct. From Ops Lead to COO: What It Actually Takes to Make the Jump
There are plenty of brilliant delivery leaders in professional services. People who keep complex projects moving, clients happy, and teams focused. They're good at what they do. (Often very good.) But a ceiling exists and most of them hit it. Not because they lack skill. Not because they haven't put in the time. But because the thing that makes someone a great delivery operator is not the same thing that makes them a credible executive. In our latest podcast episode, Projectworks CEO Mark Orttung sat down with Joanna Moore (COO at OCM and a 20-year professional services veteran across Australia, Europe, and APAC) to unpack what that transition actually looks like.
