Projectworks PSA Software is a Finalist in the 2025 Xero Global App Awards

The team was excited to find out that Projectworks has been named a finalist in the 2025 Xero App Awards 2025 last week - celebrating our mission to unleash experts on the real work!
Thank you to Xero and to our fantastic team for their relentless dedication - and to our customers and partners who deliver world-leading projects around the globe, 365 days a year. Your adoption, feedback and collaboration have guided our evolution, and this finalist spot belongs to you as much as it does to us.
What It Means To Be A Finalist in the Xero Global App Awards
The Xero Global App Awards is a global programme celebrating outstanding apps that enhance users' experiences within the Xero ecosystem. Being selected as a finalist places Projectworks among the best apps that demonstrate strong innovation, integration, and value for professional services firms.
This year, our professional services automation software is a top four Finalist in the Small Business App of the Year for the US, which means a lot to us. We have been rapidly expanding in the US - and into new verticals. For example, our PSA tool has saved Alliance Biotech, a US-based life science consulting firm: "...12 hours a week, every other week. Both for time tracking and for invoicing - it’s a tremendous time saver for us.“
Starting out as a small passion project in New Zealand in 2001, our global Projectworks team now includes a development team in Silicon Valley and a new office established in London. We’re proud to be a globally-loved PSA software and to continue our trajectory of hyper-growth.
For us, this milestone is not just about recognition - it reinforces our mission to automate all the “boring bits” so the experts can focus on what they do best.
Why Projectworks Stood Out
At Projectworks, we believe growth isn't optional. Growth means building revenue and talent in tandem, so your firm can take on bigger challenges with greater impact.
Projectworks is used by 15,000+ consultants across 56 countries, and our professional services tools have empowered experts to invoice $3 billion worth of work. On average, Projectworks users grow by 20% in their first year of use. bdna, a software consulting firm in Australia, has seen 60% growth with Projectworks.
Projectworks also drives measurable impact on profitability, as shared by James Davidson, Principal at Rendement, an Australian engineering firm: "Projectworks improved our profitability by 5-8% within 2 months of implementation.”

There are several areas of our platform and roadmap that helped us stand out:
Deep Xero Integration
From early on we designed Projectworks to work seamlessly with Xero, enabling firms to connect project-level time, expenses, leave, and invoicing with their accounting ledger. Previously the Xero Emerging App Partner of the Year (2020), and a finalist for the Xero App Partner of the Year Award (2021), our deep PSA software integration eliminates data double-handling and human error, and saves time for both delivery and finance teams, who would otherwise enter invoices, expenses, and more across two disconnected systems. Rated 4.9/5, our Xero integration has strong support in the market, with Simon Drummond from New Zealand saying:
"One of the drawcards for us was the ability to house multiple organisations within the one interface. As a SME consulting firm operating in several countries, this amalgamation provided us with much greater business visibility as well as a streamlined intercompany billing process...Couldn't recommend it more."
Importantly, Projectworks users can connect multiple Xero organizations to a single Projectworks account - a standout feature that shines in the competitive Professional Services Automation market. Brad Atchison, CEO at Univerus, shares:
“We're a professional services consultancy with four NZ-based entities...Being able to have four entities in the one PW linked to four separate Xero businesses helps to simplify processes like intercompany subcontracting. We’re seeing the benefits already with our monthly invoicing, and people just prefer using it!”
Continuous Innovation
The Projectworks platform constantly offers users new value, with recently-released features including a custom reporting engine developed by integrating with Metabase, one-click timesheets, an Employment Hero leave integration, timesheet reminders, and intuitive budget building.
Strong Quoting and Invoicing
In the realms of quoting and invoicing, Projectworks shines. "We used to spend around 120 hours every month invoicing…we've saved almost 100 man hours a month," says Kyle Olsen, Systems Manager at a New Zealand engineering firm. Further emphasizing the real-world efficiencies gained by using Projectworks, Laurence Sherriff, Founder/Managing Director at Align Limited, says that: “Quotes in Projectworks are a real value add for us. They can potentially save us $30-$50k per year by reducing time spent on developing proposals.”
One Connected PSA Software For All Your Services Needs
Projectworks brings together all the complex admin of project management into one place. Users can connect their favourite tools, like Xero, and report on their projects from one location, feeling confident that their data is accurate. This is evidenced by Aaron, Programme Director in Computer Software in New Zealand, who shares:
"Projectworks is still the best single platform for managing all project dimensions. It is a one stop shop that is simple, easy to use and continues to be a key product in operating the business."
Projectworks is designed specifically for users in four key verticals: architecture, engineering, management consulting, and software services. The quality of our project financial forecasting means we surpass simple point solutions that only allow users to track time or build invoices, instead pulling from time tracking, expense management, resource planning software, invoicing, quoting, and project budgets in one deeply-integrated platform to generate business insights that actually move the profitability needle.
Looking Ahead: AI-Driven Proposals and Automation
Winning work is the lifeblood of every professional services firm. Whether a team is fighting for every opportunity or managing a flood of new ones, speed and precision make the difference. The Projectworks AI Proposals engine, currently in development, is designed to save valuable delivery time and help small businesses outperform competitors regardless of size - empowering lean teams to respond quickly, showcase their expertise, and win high-value projects.
Projectworks users will be able to upload their best proposals, generate editable templates from these proposals, and automatically create and update proposals from uploaded RFPs. This meets a significant need in the professional services market, where experts often waste time building proposals in Word documents or point solutions, losing the context of previous successful proposals, and struggling to deliver proposals that display a consistent brand voice.
We’re Really Grateful To You, Our Projectworks Community
As Emeka Nadi of The Nadi Group has said, "My team did not go to school to run Excel spreadsheets.". The greatest consultants solve the hardest problems – the ones that shape cities, systems, and lives. Engineers, architects, developers, strategists: this is the work that moves the world forward. But the problems we face – public health, environmental resilience, energy systems, housing, infrastructure, digital transformation – they aren’t slowing down. And they won’t be solved with time lost to billing admin, manual timesheets, and reporting loops.
The world’s experts should be spending their brainpower solving real problems – one great idea, one billable hour at a time.
To our valued customers: thank you. You have trusted Projectworks to support your business growth, profitability, and scalability. Many of you have shared feedback and feature requests that we have implemented. Your success - whether it is improving utilization, driving up your margin, boosting billable hours, or gaining sharper forecasting - drives our roadmap.
Did We Win? We’ll Find Out in November!
Although being a finalist is a major achievement in itself, we are now looking ahead to the final judging round in November. We are excited and hopeful to bring home a win - but regardless of the outcome, this finalist distinction is already a wonderful benchmark of our progress and capability.
Ahead of the winners announcement, we will continue to communicate new and upcoming releases and how we are delivering value across our ecosystem.
Thank you for being with us on this journey. Here’s to many more milestones together!
