Three Phases. Three Different Playbooks.

The cheat sheet breaks growth down into three revenue bands. Each has its own challenges, opportunities and walls to breakthrough.

Phase 1: $0–5M

Founder-led and scrappy. Your reputation drives sales, but your bandwidth as founder becomes the bottleneck. The focus here: winning anchor clients, building something unique, and setting strong foundations.

Phase 2: $5–25M

Time to build leverage. The founder can’t do it all anymore - you’ll need a leadership team, sharper positioning, and a repeatable growth engine. This is where many firms stall unless they bring in the right people and systems.

Phase 3: $25–150M+

Scale depends on decentralization. General Managers run major slices of the business. Advisory boards and independent directors matter. The challenge is staying connected and predictable while expanding fast.
